Home setup guides

Hospital bed at home. A family setup guide.

Bringing a hospital bed home after a discharge or surgery? Here is what to expect on delivery day, what the room needs, and how month-to-month rental works.

Delivery day

What happens on delivery day.

Our team delivers the bed to your home, carries it to the room you choose, assembles it, and walks you — and any caregiver — through the controls before we leave. Most setups take under an hour.

Have the room cleared and the bed's spot decided before we arrive. See hospital bed rentals.

Room prep

Getting the room ready.

  • Space: about 36" × 80" for the bed, plus caregiver room on at least one side.
  • Doorways: measure the narrowest doorway on the path — most standard doorways fit.
  • Power: a standard outlet within cord reach; keep cords off walking paths.
  • Flooring: the bed rolls best on hard floors or low-pile carpet.

Which bed

Semi-electric vs. full-electric.

Semi-electric beds adjust head and foot electrically; height is manual. Full-electric beds adjust everything — including height — with the remote, which helps caregivers most. Tell us about the patient's mobility when you call and we will recommend the right type from current inventory.

Rental terms

How month-to-month rental works.

Rent by the month with no long-term commitment. We deliver and set up, and when the bed is no longer needed we pick it up. If insurance covers it, we verify benefits and handle the paperwork first — we are a Medicare-enrolled supplier.
